Laurence J. Peter (9/16/19 – 1/12/90) a Canadian educator and best known for his original formation of the “Peter Principle,” (which basically states that each employee rises to the level of his/her incompetence) also stated the following:
An economist is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn’t happen today.
I would substitute “Investment Advisor” for economist in this context as well. The overwhelming issue right now is the Russian conflict/war with Ukraine and what its short term and long-term effects will be on the global economy and then how the NATO alliance responds and what those effects will be. It is impossible to see the future or predict what is going to happen, but we still believe “cooler heads will prevail” and that ultimately people will remember their history and that “war is not worth it.” BUT….. the bottom line is that we are watching this every day very closely and trying to evaluate all sides for threats and opportunities.
